The following procedures are related to changes to be assessed by IenW Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management).

Types of changes

Changes to the issued permit can be submitted via the notification procedure or the adjustment procedure:

  • A notification is for changes that have no consequences for the environmental risk assessment that was conducted with respect to the environmental release.
  • An adjustment is for changes that have no significant consequences for the environmental risk assessment that was conducted with respect to the environmental release.

If the change is not covered by the risk analysis of the existing permit, a new application must be submitted.

Submission method

In principle, the change can be submitted in the form of a letter, accompanied by all the information that is required for the assessment of the change. Upon submission of a change you must explain how the change fits within the risk assessment of the permit (including the original permit application).

Processing deadline

The decision period for an adjustment is eight weeks. After submission of the written notification, a waiting period of five working days applies before the notified changes may be implemented, counted from the day the confirmation of receipt is received by the permit holder. This waiting period gives the Minister the opportunity to assess whether the notified changes meet all the requirements. If no reply is sent by the Minister after the waiting period has expired, the original permit then automatically also applies to the notified changes.
